Solar Panel Grants

Find out more about Solar Power

How many solar panels do I need to generate electricity?

Depending on your energy consumption and the orientation of your panels, the number of solar panels needed may vary. Generally, a south-facing or east-west-facing configuration for a 3.3 kW solar PV system with typical daily consumption requires around 10 solar panels. This 10-panel system would easily power your home’s base load plus a white good, i.e., a dishwasher or washing machine, even in dull weather.

How much electricity does a solar panel generate?

Each square metre of solar panel generates around 195 W on a sunny, clear day. To use a more realistic example, a typical 3.3 kW residential solar PV installation that is about 20 square metres in area will generate around 3,200 kW per year, which is about 45% of the average annual electricity consumed in an average Irish home.

How much roof space is needed to install solar panels?

Depending on your energy consumption and the orientation of your solar panels, the roof space required to install solar panels varies. For a typical 3.3 kW solar PV system in Cork, around 20 square metres are needed to install about 10 solar panels.

How long does the it take to install a new solar power system?

Our experienced teams provide a seamless installation service, which includes: a site survey and shade analysis, we then develop an installation design and, on your approval, commence installation. Once the order has been confirmed the installation should be completed within 4-6 weeks.

Why is now a good time to switch to solar power?

Currently, Solar PV benefits from the most incentives it ever has. The cost of installation is lowered thanks to the SEAI grant and a 0% VAT rate. However, these incentives wont stay like this as the SEAI grant is getting lowered each year.
